Eulalia "Sister" Bourne (1895-1984) is an influential Arizonan pioneer. In her life she was a schoolteacher, author, cowgirl, and rancher. She also attended the University of Arizona in the 1920s, where she studied for ten years before graduating. She taught at Beaver Creek, Helvetia, Redington, Baboquívari, Sierrita, Sasco, Sasabe, and Sópori. In this photograph, Bourne sits at her desk and reads over papers. She is wearing a cowgirl hat and reading glasses. |
